Cant save to /etc/timezone in CentOS
I have two CentOS 6.3 VMs. I'm a web application developer who has very little knowledge of the OS.
I use a custom script to configure the server.
All my other servers are ubuntu, and there I can specify the timezone and it will automagically add it to /etc/timezone.
In the CentOS 6.3 VM I can specify the timezone, and it will automagically add it to /etc/localtime, but it wont add it to /etc/timezone.
Does anyone know why? Is it possible to do this in CentOS?

I guess you are running CentOS 6.3 for which the default timezone is Europe/London, in which case it doesn't really make sense for your time zone to be at the same time zone as the rest of Europe. So the Time Zone setting would just get overwritten by /etc/localtime in any case.
You can use tzconfig which is part of the ldap-utils package to set the Time Zone from within your script.
